Brad the Llama Monk

Traditional methods used for the lineart.

A friend runs LAN parties in the local area and for each event I've helped him out with the artwork used in promotional materials, such as advertising and t-shirts. The latest and greatest is LlamaLAN 7. The poster for this event is a parody of a well known film. I drew up two separate characters to merge into the main poster work. The first character is the one you see here, affectionately dubbed 'Brad'.

This one didn't seem to take me long enough to complete. The lineart was over fairly quickly and the colouring even quicker. Because the perspective is so close to the visage of our friend here, there is little detail. I could have done more with his face at this closeness, but to add tattoos or whatever wouldn't be suitable for the promotional material. I tried to include more detail by fluffing out his fur a bit. This was at least the first work I'd drawn out on A3, so Brad gave me some practice before tackling llama no. 2.

I don't find the result particularly interesting, so it doesn't score highly with me. The best bits I like about Brad the Llama are the eyes. The second character was far more involving and way more interesting. She's to come, once I have the background figured out.
